Tweaking is the Trick!

When it comes to increasing sales through your website, tweaking is the key. Most likely, you have the basics down. But it’s a good idea to continually inspect your site looking for areas where you can tweak and improve.

Here are a few areas you should always keep in mind. These are things that you can constantly go back to again and again to tweak and improve. If you get these right it will help optimize your website for sales:

The three-click rule: This rule states that it should take no more than three clicks for a user to find what they are looking for on your website. (The fewer the better). This means that your navigation should be clear and intuitive, and that your most important content should be easily accessible.

Calls to action: Calls to action are buttons or links that encourage users to take a specific action (e.g. “Buy now,” “Sign up,” “Learn more”). Make sure to use clear and compelling calls to action throughout your website to encourage users to take the next step.

Use social proof: Social proof is the idea that people are more likely to trust and follow the actions of others. You can use social proof on your website by displaying customer reviews, testimonials, and social media followers.

Contact Us: If you’re just starting out or you’re not super famous yet, another way to build trust is to make it very easy for potential customers to contact you. There’s no better way to build a personal connection with your customers than to actually talk to them.

Make it easy for people to reach you by phone or email. People hate the way big companies bury their contact information so far down that no one can ever find it. So, be different. Make a great first impression by inviting people to contact you with any questions they may have before they buy.

Optimize for mobile: More and more users are accessing the web on their phones, so it’s important to make sure your website is optimized for mobile. This means making sure that your website is responsive (i.e. it adjusts to different screen sizes), and that the content is easy to read and navigate on a small screen.

Use high-quality images: This is super important and easy to overlook, but high-quality images will make or break your website. They make your website more visually appealing and can help to build trust with your users. And don’t think people don’t notice – they do.

You could have two websites, both selling the same products with the same copy and the same photos – but put low-quality photos on one and high-quality on the other. The one with the high-quality photos will get more sales every time – no doubt about it. And make sure to use clear, well-lit, and high-resolution images throughout your website.

In essence, there are several strategies that you can use to optimize your website for sales. These strategies include following the three-click rule, using calls to action, incorporating social proof, optimizing for mobile, and using high-quality images. By implementing these strategies, you can increase the chances of converting website visitors into customers.
